Through my NHS work I was proud to present at West Sussex Victim Support "Hate has no Place" conference in Horsham today.
I presented along the magnificent expert by experience Jake Ballard who I have trained with for quite a few years

Jake manages to explain himself and involve the audience with great fun and humour.
It was clear that Jake's descriptions of his routines, interests and accurate literal understanding wowed the audience.
I am always delighted to present "alongside" Jake and I gave information on the vulnerabilities of people on the Autism Spectrum to hate crime and tips on support

Its really heartening to see this issue being taken so seriously in West Sussex by Criminal Justice professionals (including police).
The other speaker we managed to see was from the Crown Prosecution Service and it was really heartening to hear him show understanding of people with Autism Spectrum Conditions and speak with determination to prosecute perpetrators of hate crimes against people with disabilities. he was realistic that there is a way to go.
Thanks so much to Helen Ranasinghe and Victim Support for inviting us and organising this conference.
